What JPK is and where the data comes from
JPK = Jednolity Plik Kontrolny (Standard Audit File)
Short definition
JPK is a standardised XML file with a company's tax data (e.g. JPK_V7 for VAT) that businesses in Poland submit to the tax office. It is generated by the accounting system from posted documents.
JPK (Standard Audit File) is the format for reporting tax data to the tax administration in Poland. The most common is JPK_V7 (VAT records and declaration), but there are also structures for accounting books, warehouse and invoices. The file is generated automatically in the accounting system from posted documents.
JPK quality depends directly on the quality of data in source systems. If invoices, customers and VAT rates reach accounting with errors (duplicates, wrong tax IDs, inconsistent categories), JPK inherits them. That is why a clean document flow from sales (CRM, shop, marketplace) into accounting is the basis of correct reporting.
In multi-channel companies the problem usually is not generating JPK itself (Optima, Symfonia or enova365 do that), but how the data reaches accounting in the first place. Integrating orders and invoices with the accounting system - with customer deduplication and tax-ID validation - makes JPK correct without manual month-end fixes.
Key facts about JPK
- The most common structure is JPK_V7 (VAT).
- JPK is generated by the accounting system (Optima, Symfonia, enova365), not the shop or CRM.
- Bad source data = bad JPK. A clean document flow matters.
Frequently asked questions
Does Open Mercato generate JPK?
No - JPK is generated by the accounting system. Open Mercato makes sure the data (invoices, customers, orders) reaches accounting clean and complete, so the JPK is correct.
How to avoid JPK errors with multi-channel sales?
Connect sales channels to accounting with an integration that includes customer deduplication and tax-ID validation. Then the data is consistent and JPK needs no manual fixes.
